What is TS, TRS, TRRS cable Jack | What is different between TS, TRS & TRRS cable jack???

When you buy your Phone connectors or Microphone cable jack and notice something like that, it says TS, TRS,TRRS, and you heard it somewhere. But do you know what this TS,TRS and TRRS are and what the jack are identified depending on.

Let's learn more about this. First of all let me say that basically these phone connectors are known by different names like phone jack, audio jack, headphone jack or jack plug. The phone connector was invented for use in Telephone Switchboards in the 19th century and is still widely used in so-many Electronic fields.The outside diameter of the "sleeve" conductor is 6.35 millimetres.  The "mini" connector has a diameter of 3.5 mm, and the "sub-mini" connector has a diameter of 2.5 mm.

TS plug : 

          The full form of TS plug is Tip-Sleeve. The upper portion of this plug is called the tip and the lower flat portion is called the sleeve. 

          Mono sound is recorded and played with this plug. With this plug only the sound of the left side speaker can be heard.

TRS plug :

          The full form of TRS plug is Tip-Ring-Sleeve. The upper portion of this plug is called the tip, middle portion is called ring and the lower portion is called the sleeve.

          We can stereo sound is recorded and played with this plug. Stereo Sound is a method of sound reproduction that creates an illusion of multi-directional audible perspective. This is usually achieved by using two or more independent audio channels through a configuration of two or more loudspeakers in such a way as to create the impression of sound heard from various directions, as in natural hearing.

          This plug is mainly used in sound systems and when microphone attached in DSLR Camera.

TRRS plug :

          The full form of TRRS plug is Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve.The upper portion of this plug is called the tip, middle two portion is called ring and the lower portion is called the sleeve. 

          Here two ring are used, one ring  for microphone and another ring for speaker. You can talk and listen to sound at the same time through this TRRS plug. And one thing to remember is that Sleeve is always used in as a earthing.

          This plug is mainly used in our smart phone and laptop.
